I am a medievalist at heart and create my portraits using media that is not in common use today. My drawings are created in silver point, which is a method of drawing using pure silver. Silver point drawings have been discovered by Leonardo da Vinci and Albrecht Durer. Each drawing has a special glow and will tarnish to a lovely brown shade over time. I work from your photo. It is important to me that portraits feel natural and fresh and are not simply copies of a photograph. I like my paintings to be quite loose whilst still sensitive - capturing the essence and likeness of the 'sitter'.
